An important element of public involvement in the Dimond Boulevard Upgrade project is the Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) convened by the project team (Team) to learn in-depth about the project background and needs and through group meetings to provide to the Team feedback and comment on local issues and concerns addressed by the project. Members are selected to represent a wide spectrum of the project’s stakeholders, and commit themselves to:
- Represent an affected interest perspective and provide that perspective to a diverse range of other interested stakeholders.
- Consider varied interests and work cooperatively towards a common public good.
- Communicate knowledge and experience gained from CAC meetings to friends, neighbors, and colleagues who also have an interest in the project.
The CAC is to provide informed wide-based stakeholder advice to the Team and to the ultimate decision makers at the Municipality. The Team will consider their advice, along with that of the public at large and that of qualified professionals, to ensure that design standards and operational requirements are met. Advice from the CAC will be given great weight, but the final decisions on the project belong to the MOA who are the owners of the project corridor.
