Victor Road

Victor Road runs north/south between 100th Avenue and Dimond Boulevard and links the Bayshore/Klatt comm unties with the Dimond commercial district. Victor Road is designated as a minor arterial in the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) Official Streets and Highways Plan (OSHP). The present roadway was last improved in the early 1970's and in its present condition, it is a deteriorated strip paved two lane section with ditched drainage. The area served by Victor Road has grown considerably in population in the last 30 years and Victor Road today carries much more vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic than it did when it was last constructed. Victor Road presently does not not meet current design criteria for a minor arterial roadway in Anchorage.

The project is being initiated to upgrade Victor Road to minor arterial, class II standards. The project may include:

Safety and capacity improvements

Roadway widening, regrading and resurfacing

Improved roadway subbase material

New storm drainage and subdrain system

Improved pedestrian and bicycle facilities

Traffic signals / channelization improvements

Utility relocation

Obtaining right-of-way and easements

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) is beginning design of Victor Road Improvements. The Victor Road right of way is owned by the ADOT&PF and as such, the design and construction is eligible for federal aid funding. The ADOT&PF is responsible for oversight of the design and managing a team of consultants led by Lounsbury and Associates. Lounsbury will complete preliminary engineering, environmental approval, and design for this project. The ADOT&PF will be fully responsible for construction of the improvements on completion of final design.
